High ceilings and floor to ceiling windows are great for letting in maximum natural light during the day, but these large spaces can often become dark and oppressive during the evenings. To combat this, this project called for a fixture that not only provides functional lighting for the family dining room, but also creates a feature that could pull the eye down from the double height ceiling.
To draw attention from the empty space above, I specified and installed three striking pendants with large metal shades, which are suspended low over the dining table. The warm white LEDs, together with the reflective white interior of the shades, throw out a wide pool of soft light, which creates a sense of warmth and a cosy atmosphere that's perfect for family meals.
